Canon lessons, Latin and Grammar lessons, Summer School and Drama. I have ventured through many aspects of Studio Education Lessons, they have all been great experiences and hard to forget. Canon Lessons have made me delve into a space out of my comfort zone of writing at that time and helped me discover a brand new way of writing that I can brand as mine. The Latin and Grammar lessons have taught me what my regular school had missed in “SPaG”: Spelling, Punctuation and Grammar. ‘The Story of England’ summer study tour has allowed me the pleasure of learning the fascinating English history with my peers and allowed me the pleasure of becoming more independent. Drama has permitted me to experience something different and perform a play with my friends. If it was not for the help of Studio Education, I wouldn’t have gotten into either Cheltenham Ladies College or Wycombe Abbey. Thank you.

Studio Education’s Shakespeare drama course opened up a whole new aspect of my heritage and of my future, introducing comparative studies as a path towards developing a fully integrated intellectual personality. The drama opened me up to new challenges too, one that I will pursue in Studio Education’s The Edinburgh Society. I have also developed a keen interest in Classics, having studied on The Ancient World study tour of Greece’s historic sites and its impact on western and world culture and thought.

Studio does not simply teach one English in order to order a cup of coffee using correct grammar. Studio taught me to speak and write not only with native vocabulary, but also as a native speaker would. Because of Studio, I am now able to better understand Britain’s culture and not, like many, go through its schooling as a mere tourist.

Studio prepared me for the boarding and academic life in Oundle in a number of ways. Through my earlier literature and history studies, Studio developed in me an interest, as well as capabilities, in studies well suited to the academic level at Oundle. Latin was not taught at my school in China but Studio effectively taught me the basics and, I was able to achieve a decent grade in my Latin studies, even ahead of some of my more experienced colleagues.

Studio’s tutors in reading & comprehension classes taught me not only to read between the lines, but also search for the author’s writing background, special purposes, and real events in the stories to understand the literature more deeply. Studio helped me to expand knowledge in diverse areas: geography, religion, and history. I loved drama class! I learned to sense the atmosphere, feel the emotion of my character, and perform through my speaking, gestures, and expression. [Drama class] gave me courage to speak in front of a big audience. Above all, studying at Studio is for academic growth and fun beyond academia!
