What is Global Learning?

Global Learning provides an unbounded cognitive habitat. By this we mean that the possibilities for learning are infinite and the traditional mode of learning becomes remixed. Global learning is unbounded in the sense that any interaction, any visceral experience, any defamiliarising moment can transform itself into something meaningful. The possibilities for learning are endless. Global Learning is rooted in cognitive development, where the acquisition of knowledge is not a transaction but a shared encounter. These encounters reach into the depths of our knowledge bases and forge connections that emphasize the continual nature of learning, and that this learning is not isolated to the classroom.

Global Learning transforms the element of setting in a way that only imagination could before. The white walls of the classroom come down, and Ely Cathedral rises in front of you, the world’s most active volcanos sit amongst you. Students are present in these places, encouraged and guided to explore, reflect, inquire and create. Learning happens like never before.

Welcome to Global Learning.

Comparative Societies and Cultures is an intellectual adventure exploring the formation of Chinese culture in all its aspects ranging from art and music to the development of logic and religious experience. The way in which this isolated civilisation first looked out at the world will be explored by examining comparable developments in western civilisation.

Fire & Ice is a comparative education trip that explores the great states of Hawaii and Alaska. Students will explore majestic mountains, active volcanoes, deep blue oceans, and frigid glaciers as they work to understand our natural world and how geography, ecology and culture are inter-linked.

The Ancient World explores the full breadth of the culture that gave the world some of the greatest works of literature, art, architecture and philosophy known to humankind. From the agora of Athens that witnessed the trial of Socrates to mysterious Delphi and its eternally cryptic declarations, there is no better place than Greece for The Ancient World trip to explore.

The Story of England trip takes students from ancient Stonehenge on Salisbury plain, through mediaeval cathedrals and thundering mountains. Alongside this journey, students will explore accompanying literature to experience the rich culture of the English people, including Arthurian legend, Shakespearean tragedy and Gothic drama.
