我们的故事
2013年，James Jobbins 和妻子 Sarah 在上海开设了第一间教室，迎来了第一批学生。创办理念很简单：让孩子们聚在一起，研读优秀的文学作品。
2013一份给家长的介绍
在网站出现之前，Studio 只有一份写给家长的 Word 文档。红色小写的"studio"，一句标语："Think more."。课程在虹桥和佘山两处开设，工作日放学后和周末上课，每班十二名学生。教学内容是英语语言艺术：文学、阅读与写作，口语贯穿始终。
文档的第二页写下了至今未变的办学宗旨：
Studio 既是手段，也是目的。它帮助学生做好准备，走向国际教育；同时它提供——并推崇——教育本身。Studio 的课程培养在考试中取得成功、进入世界顶尖学校所需的能力与素质，同时以在求知中启迪伟大的思考与创造力为乐。
同一页上解释了名字的由来：
Studio 的名字反映了学习力和创造力的共生关系——Studio 的学习充满了构思、探索、尝试新想法的创作气质，并且与之密不可分。
教育3.0时代
Studio 坚信每个孩子都应在教育3.0时代得到均等的学习机会。
我们不止步于教孩子们学什么，更要帮助他们主动学习。这意味着引导孩子们独立思考，有自己的知识路线图和方法体系。不是被动接受"What"的灌输，而是更多主动去探寻 Why 和 How。这意味着孩子们有机会分享和合作，学生与学生之间的交流，能够学到任何老师都教不了的东西。这意味着孩子们在扩展项目和综合课程中创造自己的成果，这些项目和课程是他们个人选择的，对他们来说是迷人和令人向往的。

学会学习
Studio 的课程具有突破性和前沿性，同时继承英国深厚的学术传统：推崇开放和拓展，坚持严谨的知识和学术体系框架。Studio 课程保留并超越英美正统教育最精华的部分，侧重思考能力和创造力，摆脱应试教育诸多束缚。
Studio 的课程超越了记忆、理解和功能技能的应用，培养分析、评估和综合的更高阶思维技能——这是蓬勃发展的才智和创造力的基本要素。
2014The Studio Thinker Manifesto
2014年5月，创始人为 Studio 的学生写下了这份宣言。宣言以创始人的口吻用英文写成，此处保留英文原文。
The Studio Thinker Manifesto
Education is my vehicle for the transformation of my soul. My Skyhawk, my DeLorean, my Yellow Submarine, my Shenzhou: it will carry me, propel me, support and steady me, as onwards I go, happily, towards my goal.
My learning will be my guide, my GPS, my augmentation, my map. I'll climb the mountain, from the caverns of the sunless sea, through the forests, through the clouds, over the rainbow, to the sights across the Vale and over the Water, over Windermere, West Lake, and the Waingunga Valley.
Down the paths of science and singing, dancing and design, maths and music, literature and language, computing and comedy; along the tracks of the arts performing, martial, and musical; by winding, magical rills and gorgeous, ragged ravines of miracles modern, ancient, futuristic; by engineering, bio-neuro-nano; by philosophy and physics; by thought, work and vision; down these paths and by these works, I will explore my world and express my soul.
I will create. I will create because I was born to; we, the linguistic people of the world, of the universe, the people charged with the creation of words for the thoughts, actions, and messages we breathe; we were born to create and generate and cultivate and nurture and build. And I will create: I will create in my studio and in my workshop; I will create atop the mountain, and in the fields, the hospital, the weather balloon and the circus tent. I will create as surely as I will breathe.
As surely as I will create, I will think. I will take the time to ride my horse in the dark and in the daytime, going nowhere fast – at times, for a time, for now, not forever! – and I'll gallop and canter and trot and walk and gallop again, as I think the thoughts of a Thinker unafraid of time taken for cogitation whimsical, cogitation magnificent, cogitation co-constructive: creative.
I will trudge on, I will soar; I will swim, crawl, jump and skip on, over, beyond what may come. With learning my guide, and education the vehicle for the transformation of my soul, I will learn by creating, and, by creating, learn the only lesson worth learning: that the gift given and the goal are the same: such splendours – what splendours! – that I have to give.

2014 – 2019向外生长
此后五年，Studio 从一个中心发展为多个——世纪公园、华漕、吴中路、北京西路等——并将所做的事组织为四个部分：中心小组课程、在线小组课程、Global Learning 游学，以及 Private Client Services。
学习板块增至七个。SALA（The Studio Academy of Liberal Arts）教授科学、哲学、数学、人类学和历史；The Studio School of Speech & Drama 研读莎士比亚、诗歌与散文；Kids Canon 和 Teens Canon 精读整本小说，写作文章与故事；Primary English、Early Years 和 Studio Ready 面向更年幼和初来的学生；Global Learning 则带学生去往英格兰、希腊、苏格兰、阿拉斯加和夏威夷，以及中国云南。
在线课程的学生来自墨尔本、波士顿、安大略、新加坡、北京和无锡，授课的正是在中心教学的同一批老师。当时的愿景是成为一个面向世界的学习共同体；使命是通过提供变革性的教育，并在世界各地培育学习共同体，来服务家庭。
2018年的一份传单这样写道：
Studio 是一个让原创的新想法得以实现的地方；是同伴之间展示、有益批评、大胆尝试与再尝试的场所；它是画廊的反面——一个属于未完成、不断生长、由粗糙走向精炼的地方。
2020年至今疫情与之后
因新冠疫情，Studio 在2020年和2022年各有数月转为线上教学。Global Learning 暂停，学习中心进行了重组；吴中路和北京西路两处未再重开。
- 2022年9月Studio 在浦明路重新开课。
- 2023年9月华漕重开；徐汇和虹口新开。
- 2024年9月虹桥重开；联洋新开。
- 2027年Global Learning 回归，自2020年以来首次。
走出那几年的 Studio，回到了创办时的样子：文学、写作、戏剧与演讲，小组围坐在圆桌旁。
Studio 的今天
如今 Studio 在上海六个地点授课，也在线上授课（2027年起，还有英国实地课程），共设七个学习板块。
2018年一份文件中的一句话至今仍然成立：Studio 的学习之旅从三岁开始，永不停止。
